Stan Douglas was born in Vancouver in 1960, where he lives and works.
He studied at Emily Carr College of Art at Vancouver. Douglas has been featured in numerous one-person exhibition: at the Jeu de Paume, Paris (1991); Musé Nationale d'Art Moderne (Centre Georges Pompidou), Paris (1994); Institute of Contemporary Art, London (1994); the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid (1994); the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago (1995); and the Musé d'Art Contemporain, Montreal (1996), among others.
Later this year, the Museum Haus Lange and Museum Haus Esters in Krefeld will host another one-person exhibition of his work. In 1995 he received a fellowship from the DAAD in Berlin.
