_____________________________________________________________ artnetwebINDEX 2.05 Monday, September 8, 1997 A monthly newsletter about artnetweb http://artnetweb.com anw@interport.net _____________________________________________________________ Greetings from artnetweb: It's September and that means time for the New York Art World(TM) to pretend to be the center of the universe for another eight months. Those who haven't been paying attention may feel disoriented since much of the gallery scene has moved from Soho to Chelsea and other neighborhoods over the summer. To make things simple Simon Watson has renamed his annual Soho Arts Festival the Downtown Arts Festival and expanded the run to ten days (Sept. 11 - 21) to kick things off. For details visit *Simon Says* online at www.citysearchnyc.com. Summer also brought a lot of changes to artnetweb and in particular our growing education department. The storefront classroom has acquired more needed equipment and we are about to launch a full schedule of online classes (see below). Saturday, September 13, is the official opening of artnetweb's Online Education Center. If you're in New York please drop by the storefront for an OPEN HOUSE from 10-6pm when we'll be demonstrating how an "online" course works, showing some 3d VRML worlds and signing people up for classes. On a down note the laptop we use to publish this newsletter was stolen resently along with the latest email list. Around 100 addresses are now missing from the database so if you know of someone who is not getting this newsletter and should be, please tell them to send a new request to anw@interport.net. And if you happen to come upon our Powerbook, please send us the addresses. We'd be so grateful we wouldn't even ask where you got them. As always we invite your comments and suggestions.
