7:32 pm

Up to 44th Street and 6th Avenue this morning to pick up the PlanetPPP for the ISDN line. Remo gave me the right address but the wrong floor and I made a fool of myself asking for a package from a receptionist who acted as though she was about to call the security guard on me. But I found the office and Harold and Remo spent the day trying to figure out how to get it to work. 4:00 it was up and running but doesn't seem nearly as fast as it is suppose to but, then again, we were expecting miracles after all this time waiting.

I didn't get a chance to take a photo of myself for the Appalachia conference. I got the film but now I need batteries so there's more money to spend that I don't have. I made it to Adrianne's opening at the SVA gallery and ran into Russett and her cute little boy. Adrianne was radiant and showerless and having great fun taking praise for her hard work. There's little chance for praise working on ArtNetWeb.

Bonnie got the software for Interchange and I'm going up to her office in the Seagram's building to play with it tomorrow. This may work out to be something very worthwhile but at least it's worth the time to find out what AT&T is doing. The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a big article online with a good overview of what's going on and a centerpiece that basically said what good guys the phone companies are (and, by inference, how bad Microsoft et al are). I tried to print it out for Remo but the printer ran out of ink. I forgot to tell him before I left. He was pretty frazzled and neither of us are getting the work done that we need to do.

I have to now redesign the entire web site to make it emerge more from the RESOURCES area since that seems to be the area where we will generate the mose interest. It's basically redoing the intro page and incorporating the resources into specific areas. Not difficult, I don't have to redo the structure much, but it's hard to start. I also have to do an abstract for my presentation at Appalachia and I have no idea what I'm going to do.

Jess was laid off from Donnelley and depressed last night -- he threatened to throw himself off the Empire State Building. I was worried but not enough to do anything. I figured he'd be up and thinking straight again this morning and he was. He went down to the unemployment office but turned and ran when he saw the hoards of people that "aren't like him." He's going to a workshop on finding a new job tomorrow and the rest of the week where he hopes they'll write his resume for him. I said the way things work out for him the company that does the workshop will hire him. He said that thought had crossed his mind.
