Dear Mom,

Sorry I've been so bad about writing lately and that I missed Mother's Day. I've been busy and going crazy but money has at last started coming in, if only in a little trickle. There's still lots of possibilities and all those important choices you have to make. My main concern has been trying to pay my rent so that the landlady will stop scowling at me when we pass in the hallway.

The weather turned hot this week then the rains came and we're stuck with mugginess and no sun. They are mowing the grass in the graveyard across the street this morning and my hay fever is bothering me but it's nice to see the green and be able to run around in shorts. I guess summer is here but I somehow missed the spring.

To bad you didn't make your trip. I had you down as arriving on a boat in my appointment book today. We could have gone out to dinner tonight but you would have gotten caught on the Hudson River in some of the worst thunder storms we've had in years. So it's probably for the best it didn't come through.

I went to Philadelphia last week to be on a panel at the American Association of Museums and everything went well, I had a good day even though I had to catch the 3:45 am train in order to make it in time. Philadelphia is an interesting city and I should go back there and explore. It's only 2 hours away by train.

Not much else to say. I'm trying to clear up my desk and figure out what important things are at the bottom of all the piles of papers. I'll try to stay in touch more.

Love,

Rob
