Stopped by Rosa Esman Gallery to make sure my name is bigger than hers on the mailer. Also to make sure she put "locus" and not "loci" in the title then had them take the ellipses out.
James Franciscus is dead. I think he was my original crush on "Mr. Novak" in the 'sixties. He was only 57. Sometimes I get him confused with Tony Franciosa.
Rosa is going off to Paris next week for two weeks then wants to see what I've got for my show on her return. She's got one painting I had planned to use hanging in the summer show and she doesn't want to overexpose it. I have to keep my eye on her. She had a big emerald cut diamond on her finger with lots of other sparkley bits surrounding it. I guess I'd better get busy and fisnish the paintings because I don't want her to see them unfinished. People get the wrong impression when they do.
Article in the Voice about how ACT UP is being harrassed by the FBI. Sounds as if the only person they interviewed was Tracey Morgan. Why don't some of the people who have been harassed for the past four years sit her down and tell her the facts of life. It also gives the political lesbians undue credit for setting up the structure of ACT UP. They never seem to remember the men like Ira Manhoff or John Kelley or even Peter Staley who invented an entirely new kind of organization that keeps getting stretched out of shape by political infighting. I don't happen to think the plight of straight women has anywhere near the urgency of AIDS.
Tom Cunningham looks terrible. Must have lost 100 pounds but he still comes to the meetings. I wish more PWAs would do that. The group needs the physical presence of what the cause is all about. But then it would have to be an Asian/Pacific Islander Lesbian IVDU who lives in Haarlem to get some people's attention.
Demo yesterday over the state prison system's treatment of prisoners with AIDS. That is really a no-win cause. Nobody cares about prisoners' rights, why should they?
