Tuesday, 8:30 pmThe bed came early, before noon. Two asian men carried it up the five flights of stairs, one young the other old -- father and son maybe. I tried to talk to the older one but he didn't speak English, paid and tipped them five then started putting it together.
Of course they put the wrong instructions and hardware in the box but I managed to get most of it together except for the back legs and arm pads. I went down to Arise Futon and they gave me more screws and arm pads then I went to a discount sheet place and bought all cotton sheets. They didn't have white so I had to settle for brown. New pillows and a mattress pad as well. Hauled it back, put the bed together and took a nap.
No call from the gym guy. No painting today either.
Rain started in the late afternoon. I talked to Simon in LA about going to the CCRB when he gets back and he said he will though he wasn't happy about it. I told him he had to because he looks so responsible.
On the way to the futon place I walked past Broadway and Houston where the police had the southeast corner roped off. People were standing around pointing up in the air and I thought somebody was on the ledge but couldn't see anyone. Then I noticed a big piece of masonry smashed on the sidewalk and an oxygen mask next to it. Guess it fell from the building and hit someone. I walked away as close to the wall of the building as I could.
